FAIRFIELD, CT: Three players with Youth National Team experience, 3 ODP Regional Team players, an All American, and the state of Connecticut's all-time leading scorer, headline the Sacred Heart's women's soccer class of 2023, the first for new coaches, Matt Micros and Scott McBride.
In total, the class includes 18 All Conference, 3 All Region, 3 All County and 7 All State selections that will enter school in the fall with an average GPA of 3.5. The student-athletes come to Sacred Heart from the three top girls youth soccer leagues in the country--the ECNL (8), GDA (1) and NPL (12), and represent 13 different youth clubs from 6 different states.
"Scott, Paulo and I are extremely excited at the young ladies that will join the group of terrific student athletes we already have here at Sacred Heart as we look to build on traditions of the past along with adding some new ones," Head Coach Matt Micros said. "We want all of our players, freshmen through seniors, to take ownership of the program and work together towards the common goal of making it something they can be proud of and remain a part of even after graduating."
