PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Sacred Heart University Women's Rugby team completed its matches at the Brown 7's Tournament this afternoon as the SHU took three of four games. The Pioneers will be back in action on Saturday, April. 13 when the SHU hosts its annual Pioneer 7's Tournament. Games will begin at 9:00 a.m.
"We spent a lot of time at practice this week working on communication and connecting again to be the team that ended successful this past fall. It paid off as we came out with a completely different mindset and energy. We were not only ready to win but we were ready to fight to win." Head Coach Michelle Reed on the teams performance.
12:00 p.m. SHU vs. Brown B's
SHU 33, Brown B's 5
The Pioneers would have a successful match against Brown B side as the Pioneers would rack up a total of five tries in the game while going four of five in conversions. Sophomore Tessa Buckey would earn herself a try for five points while fellow sophomore Isabelle Cuddy would continue her impressive 7's season as she tallied three tries for 15 points. First-year Sophie Hale would also tally a try for five points. Sophomore Grace De Poortere would go 4-5 in conversions to tally eight points.
1:00 p.m. SHU vs. LIU Post
SHU 17, LIU Post 10
Three Pioneers would be able to find the touch-line in the second game of the day as Cuddy, Buckey and sophomore Katlin Lagase would each tally a try for five points. De Poortere would also give the Pioneers a pair of points as she went 1-3 in conversions.

3:00 p.m. SHU vs. Army Bs
SHU 10, Army B 17
The Pioneers would fall in the final match of the day as they fell to Army B side 17-10. Williams would be the lone Pioneer who scored two tries in the game for 10 points.
"It's hard to single out one player today. I think if you asked the team who stood out the consensus would be that it was a team effort."
