FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Men's volleyball graduate student Emerson Waumans was named the EIVA Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon. This is the first EIVA weekly award of the season and career for the Waumans.
Waumans totaled 46 kills on .414 hitting with 14 blocks, nine digs and four aces in a 2-1 week for the Pioneers. He opened the week with 20 kills and.472 hitting against the Springfield, adding three blocks, three digs and an ace.
In the first match against the Charleston (W.V.), he had 14 kills on .379 hitting with nine blocks, six digs and an ace. The next night he had 12 kills on .364 hitting, with two aces and two blocks, including a solo denial. This is the first EIVA weekly award of the season and career for the graduate student.
