  • Young and Mefford Score Victories for Men’s Track & Field at the Lehigh Angry Birds Challenge

    The Sacred Heart men’s track and field team opened the 2020 calendar year with a busy Saturday at the Lehigh Angry Birds Challenge. The Pioneers scored a fourth place finish out of six teams in the competition over the weekend. Jeffrey Young (60m hurdles) and Sean Mefford (long jump) each scored individual victories to highlight the effort for SHU on the day.

    The Sacred Heart men’s track and field team saw a pair of Northeast Conference weekly award winners as senior Sean Mefford (Men’s Field Athlete of the Week) and first-year Brenden LaForest (Men’s Rookie of the Week) were honored by the league office, as announced on Tuesday afternoon.

    The Sacred Heart men’s track and field team opened the 2019-20 indoor campaign at the Yale Season Opener on Saturday. Jeffrey Young’s IC4A qualifying time in the 60m hurdles, combined with Nicholas Pandolfo’s victory in the mile and Sean Mefford’s New England qualifying mark in the long jump highlighted the day for the Pioneers.
