FAIRFIELD, Conn,- Trevor Guerrera of the Sacred Heart men's track and field team earned NEC Track Athlete Of The Week on Tuesday his performances this past weekend.
Contesting an 800m race indoors for the first time since last winter, Guerrera instantly grabbed a hold of first place in the NEC by recording one of the top times in NCAA Division I. The NEC Indoor Championships meet record holder crossed the line in 1:48.41 at Boston U's John Thomas Terrier Invitational. Competing in the fastest of the meet's 15 heats, Guerrera finished third overall and posted the best time by a collegian. As a result, he leads the NEC by more than 7.0 seconds and owns the second-fastest time amongst all IC4A Championship qualifiers. While breaking a five-year old SHU program record, Guerrera moved into sixth place on the Division I national leader board.
