NEW HAVEN, Conn.- The Sacred Heart University Men's Tennis team concluded day two of play at the Connecticut State Championships this afternoon. The Pioneers will wrap up the last day of competition tomorrow beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The Pioneers dominated singles play as the team won three matches out of four on the day. Sophomore William Wibmer defeated Daniel Gale of Yale in straight sets 7-5, 6-2 while senior Seiji Hosokawa picked up his single win against Tyler Shibles of Fairfield University and won in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. The last singles victory of the day came off the racket of sophomore Ayman Khan as he defeated Camille Kima of Yale in straight sets 6-1, 6-3.
In doubles, the duo of Hosokawa and Wibmer defeated Alan Sou and Arnav Dhingra of Yale in straight sets in the third round 6-3 while the pairing of Khan and Podlipnik defeated Adriano Barilla and Santiago Montufar of Boston College in the third round 6-3.
