Baseball Falls to St. Louis, 9-7 in Extras

DeLand, FL. – The Sacred Heart University baseball team fell to St. Louis 9-7 in 10 inning on the road at Stetson on Friday evening.

Justin Jordan and Anthony Porrino each drove in two runs, while Dan Fallacaro led the way for SHU with three hits in the loss.

NOTES (St. Louis 9, SHU 7):

  • Brent Teller got the start and gave up two unearned runs and struck out seven in 3.2 innings of work

  • Dan Fallacaro went 3-for-4 in the loss

  • Jake Frasca recorded two hits and scored twice in the contest

  • Justin Jordan and Anthony Porrino drove in two runs apiece

  • Danny Glendon went 1-for-3 with an RBI

  • The game remained scoreless through the first three innings before the Billikens tallied two runs in the fourth

  • St. Louis took a 3-0 lead after Shane Benes drilled an RBI double to left

  • The Billikens owned a 4-0 lead before the Pioneers plated three runs in the seventh

  • With runners on second and third, Porrino drilled a two-run double to cut the deficit to 4-2

  • Glendon followed with an RBI single to bring the deficit to 4-3

  • The Billikens responded with three runs in the eighth to increase its lead to 7-3

  • The Pioneers were able to use the bottom of the ninth to score four runs to force extras

  • With runners on the corners and two outs in the inning, Joe Emerson reached on a throwing error, allowing two runs to score

  • Down 7-5 and runners on second and third, Justin Jordan lined a two-run single to left to tie the contest at 7-7

  • St. Louis scored two runs in the 10th to secure the 9-7 win over the Pioneers in extras


The Pioneers will be back in action on Sunday, Mar. 3, when SHU take on Stetson on the road at 3 p.m.
